Winter Fun

As fall comes to an end and we jump into the holiday season, winter is coming! I know a lot of people don’t like winter because it’s so cold and dark, but I promise that winter can be enjoyed. Let’s take a look at some fun winter events coming up - a lot are happening this weekend!

Winter Fest and Family Feud are this weekend!

Winter Festival: Celebration of Trees is a fun event for local companies and creatives to put their best tree forward. The trees will be up at the Elks Lodge Friday the 1st and Saturday the 2nd. Trees are up for tours, there are games, treats, and even a photo op with Santa! The team is also bringing back the Adult Jingle and Mingle on Friday night! The Shuffle Couple will DJ, there will be holiday drinks, appetizers, games, prizes, and FUN! This is a free event for everyone 21+ and goes from 7:30 - 10 p.m.!

Family Feud is a new piece to the Winter Festival Weekend - A live comedy gameshow event with locals competing to outwit each other! Saturday, Dec. 2nd, doors open at 6 p.m. for cocktail hour and free appetizers supplied by Hy-Vee and a cash bar with drinks from Fareway Stores Jefferson and Deals Orchard. The show starts at 7 p.m.! Located at the legendary local broadway environment at History Boy Theatre Company. The primary purpose of the event is to have FUN! The secondary purpose of the event is to raise funds to support the Bell Tower Festival and help it to be even better. Our goal is to raise $10,000 through this event to support expenses like the carnival, and high-quality entertainment and shows. 🎪🎤🎡

The cost to enter is $30! There is a cash bar with beer, wine, and soft drinks available 🍻🍷 There is also a silent auction, which will be live all week online for bidding, just in time to provide a holiday gift option, with most items locally donated! 🎁 Sign up for Family Feud at this link!!

Santa Photo Ops: PAWS (our local animal shelter) has a fun pet photo op with one of Santa’s helpers on Saturday, Dec. 9th from 12 - 3 p.m. at the shelter. Santa will be at the Winter Festival: Celebration of Trees on Friday, Dec. 1st from 5 - 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 2nd from 2 - 4 p.m. The Greene County Community Center has a Breakfast with Santa event this weekend as well! Hy-Vee will be sponsoring a breakfast buffet and cookie decorating station! Get your yearly photo with Santa from Meythaler Photography 📸 Kids eat free; adults will have a buffet fee.

Deals Orchard has fields of real Christmas trees! If you love that real Christmas Tree smell and look, grab the family and make a sweet memory by picking out and cutting down your own tree. Deals also has the Apple Barn open Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.. They have homemade goodies and other fun Christmas/winter decor available for purchase! They even have merch and gift baskets available for ordering.

Winter is coming, and the Jefferson community is bringing in the fun along with it. Grab the kiddos, a couple friends, and get out in the fun this weekend! ❄️🎄🤩
