How Jefferson Matters’ grants helped launch Prime Performance

Starting a business comes with excitement, nerves, and a whole lot of unknowns. For Dr. Abby Badger, owner of Prime Performance, having support from the start made all the difference.

Support from the Start

Prime Performance is one of many local businesses that has received support through Jefferson Matters grant programs, including the “Jefferson Wants You” and a Storefront Signage grant. For Abby, those resources helped ease the pressure that often comes with launching something new.

We asked Dr. Abby what she would say to someone considering a Jefferson Matters grant:

“Applying for the Jefferson Matters grant significantly reduced the stress and uncertainty associated with startup costs for my business,” Abby shared. “The financial assistance allowed me to focus on launching and growing the business rather than worrying about funding. In addition, the program provided a strong network of support and encouragement.”

That support went beyond dollars. It was about knowing the community was behind her and invested in her success.

Here’s what Abby had to say to anyone thinking about opening a business in Jefferson:

“I would strongly encourage anyone to pursue this opportunity, as it is one of the most impactful decisions you can make,” Abby said. “The level of support within this community is truly unmatched. Opening my business in my hometown has allowed me to give back to a community that has given so much to me. There is a unique sense of fulfillment in serving the people who helped shape who you are. Even for those who are not originally from the area, it is an incredibly welcoming community that continues to support new businesses and opportunities for growth.”

Opening Prime Performance in Jefferson also gave Dr. Abby the chance to give back in a meaningful way.
