THE CENTENNIAL BUILDING PROJECT
The Centennial building project is a powerful example of what happens when a community believes in its potential. This project reflects a shared commitment to investing in our buildings, our businesses, and our future. It’s not just about restoring a structure, it’s about strengthening the heart of the community. At the center of it all is a simple but bold mindset shared by many involved: Why Not Us.
Background Story: “Why Not Us”
“Why Not Us” began as a group of local women who believed they could play an active role in shaping their community’s future. Together, they formed an LLC, pooled their resources, secured grants, and partnered with the city to restore the historic Centennial Block building on Main Street.
Their investment preserved the building’s character while transforming it into a vibrant mixed-use space, featuring The Centennial and apartments above. The project, which opened in 2022, stands as a powerful example of local leadership, collaboration, and confidence in downtown Jefferson.
