Jean Van Gilder
Jefferson Matters is built on the generosity, talent, and dedication of people who quietly give their time to make our community stronger. One of those remarkable individuals is Jean Van Gilder, a longtime volunteer and valued member of the Tower View Team.
According to Deb McGinn, Chair of the Tower View Team and Secretary of Jefferson Matters, Jean is truly “a woman of many hidden talents.”
“Jean has volunteered her time with our public piano projects, created coloring books for the elementary to celebrate Sally’s Alley, volunteered at Spook the Loop with other Tower View Team members, assisted at Party in the Alleys, and even shared her creative side through quilting as a participant in Ekphrasis.”
But Jean’s impact goes far beyond her creative contributions…
When the Tower View Team began planning its third alley renovation, Jean stepped up in a major way.
“When the team set out to begin our third alley renovation, she willingly stepped forward to serve as chairperson for Imagination Alley,” Deb shares. “She quickly assembled a dedicated subcommittee that committed the next three years to bringing the project to completion.”
In addition to her artistic talents and community involvement, Jean has shown exceptional leadership and commitment when it comes to advancing long-term projects.
“From assisting with our very first grant application for rooftop art to writing a successful Grow Greene County Gaming grant for the Imagination Alley renovation, Jean has been a constant source of support. She approaches every task with a smile, encouraging words, and a readiness to step up and ensure the project gets done. She is a great example of what a volunteer should be!” - Deb McGinn
Jean’s willingness to lead, create, and serve reflects the very best of what Jefferson Matters stands for. Her dedication has helped transform spaces, inspire neighbors, and strengthen our community in lasting ways.
We are incredibly grateful for Jean and all that she brings to our organization.
